ON THE WATER FOR JULY        (2007)

 

Once again Pard….Do you ever wonder if anybody is reading/listening to our BLASTS & our Monthly Conversations & even more important, what do the members think about where the Club has Been & Where it should be Going  ???  I’ll get to that QUESTION in a little bit.

 

First lets take a quick look at what we were up too in JUNE >> We graduated our 1^st Responsible Angler Class from the Newport Middle School, We got Jack & Ginny Scherer Out of Town on a Rail, ODFW recognized our Clubs Contributions by presenting us with a beautiful Carved Steelhead, Another successful Joint Venture with the North West Steelheaders & Central Coast Fly Fishers at the 2^nd Annual Kids Fishing Day at Big Creek, A most successful 2^nd Time for Fishing Gear & DVD’s to our Troops in Iraq, A great Guest Speaker (Dean Hendricks) who showed us how to make our own Lures & Stuff, A fun involvement with Toledo’s 1^st Annual Sharon Branstiter Kids Carnival, Welcome to a New Member >>Jim Stanley & a New Big Creek Ambassador >>Mike Rosiga & Best of All >>> Jim Winebrenner is now back in Fine Fettle !!!  Did I mention, our New Podium (compliments of Bud Roark) & how’ bout Post Holes for 3 Experimental ODFW Line Recycling Stations on “The Creek” (ask Electric Bill about that).

 

I also want to thank you all for endorsing Wayde Dudley, to join our Board, as the Clubs “Special Projects Officer & the Latitude you have given us to Spend Club Funds, up to 100 dollars, for periodic operational expenses. Also…Don’t miss our close out event for the month, which will a fun & informative trip up to the Oregon Hatchery Research Center, on the 30^th of the month.

 

That brings us to JULY >>Summer is here & I think it would be a Good Idea to SLOW DOWN the Tempo of the Club & enjoy the next several months & actually GO FISHING !!!  To that end, I will be putting on my Rubber Pants & going to Montana for most of July. The Club will be in the Good Hands of Wayne Hill & your Fine Board Members. I can’t say enough about this fine group of folks, who really care about You & Our Club. We will have the Breakfast Meeting at Agate Beach Golf Course Restaurant, on the 5^th & on the 19^th  a fun Fly Fishing 101 Visit to Butch Minich’s Fly Shop in Seal Rock. Then….THE GENERAL has put together, on the 24^th, a Super Fishing Expedition down coast to Siltcoos lake….You don’t want to miss the sign up dates & this terrific opportunity !!!          (Lest I forget…Special Thanks to the Siletz Fish Trappers)

 

There’s a couple of things you may want to keep an “Eye On”…….The Designation of “Coastal No Fishing Zones” & Electrical Energy generated by using “Wave Generation Technology” >>> Both of these issues have Pros & Cons, that will have significant implications on all of us Coastal  Anglers<<<We will try to keep you informed of what is happening with them.

 

Did I ever tell you about>>> “The Fug a Wee Indian Tribe” ???…….Perhaps, it’s better if we do that in private !!!!

 

It seems to me, that we need to GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM YOU ALL !!!!   To that end, I have asked THE GENERAL to put together a Poll, which we will put out to each of you. It is VERY IMPORTANT that YOU ALL look it over & give us your “Best Shot” about how you feel regarding the wide range of topics that involve YOUR CLUBS Activities & ANY IDEAS you may have to keep us on the “Right Track”…..If we are doing something that is “Setting Your Hair On Fire”….We want to know about that too !!!!!! 

 

In Closing, let me leave you with this thought >>> Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away & have their shoes !!!!
