ON THE WATER FOR SEPTEMBER ( 2009 )

ON THE WATER FOR SEPTEMBER       ( 2009 )

Tackle Box Time >> Pard << Check this out >>> September Marks the beginning of the Fall Football Season > Go DUCKS > Go BEAVES & the NFL !!!     How’bout this for a “Fresh Idea” …. What say we start a Cash for “Old Fish’n Equipment” Clunkers Program ???  This Just In from The Park Manager Guy >< He’s tells me the Governor just signed a Law making Bucket Biology a Felony & He is now keeping a very close eye on our Resident LVH Pond … So Heads up to all of you LVH Anglers !~!~!   I am sure you all saw the Great PIX, provided by First Lady, of the recent Little Linda grounding at Nye Beach. Then we had the Huge Great White Shark caught off of Depoe Bay. All Good Stuff to draw Tourists to our Coastal Community. Speaking of our Community >< Steve Stewart, the Water Plant Supervisor, informs us that we are beginning to draw water, from the Siltez River, to supplement our Big Creek Reservoir Complex (Might be a Good Idea, if we all became a bit more aware of our individual water usage). Speaking of Conservation >> Have you heard about the 2010 … GM VOLT … This Bad Boy is touted to get 230 MPG. Did I mention, that the Sales Price is touted to be $ 40 K >< WOW, that’s a Spicy Meatball !~!~!  Here’s one for you Local History Buff’s >< Did you ever hear about “The Belamy Colony” ???  According to a recent article in The Oregonian, this Utopian Community was started about 1890, by Ed Belamy. Ed & his band of 20 followers, set up the colony just North of Toledo, along the Road to Siletz, at what is now know as Depot Slough. As with most Utopian Experiments, the “Wheels Came Off” after about a year & everybody when their separate ways. This one is for you Sci-Fi Buff’s >< According to a recent German Study, it has been determined, that when Hikers get Lost, they predictably will Wander in Circles, often crossing their track, several times, with out realizing it >>>>> Now … Where in the Heck, do they keep the Gray Poupon Mustard in Safeway ???

Lurching to Close the Tackle Box >< We had some Really Terrific News about the recent NOAA decision to select Newport as their New MOC-P (Marine Operations Center – Pacific) with construction to be completed by 2011 >>> That’s the Really Good News >< However, now we hear, “Drums Along the Mohawk” > To whit <  Bellingham, WA. is not very happy about NOAA”S Newport Selection & they are presenting a formal challenge to these proceedings !?!?  We better keep an eye on this one !~!~! Let’s proceed to take a quick look at Club Activity for August >>>

The absolute HIGH LIGHT for AUGUST had to be Celebrating our 5th BIRTHDAY, with over 50 attendees, at our recent Outstanding BBQ Luncheon & Party. I have been delighted to receive extremely favorable comments, from attendees, about the over all construct of the event & specifically, Wayde Dudley’s Superb (36lbs) BBQ Ribs ++ The additional food “Fix’ins” including a Really Cool Birthday Cake. Of course, it was poignant to present our Good Friend James Ray with Going Away Mementos from our FC & CCFF. We all sincerely wish James, & his wife, our very best as they begin their Juneau Alaska Adventures. Allow me to close out August by once again reflecting on our 5th Birthday Event. This kind of successful enterprise can only be accomplished by “All Hands” pulling together. That said >< It is appropriate, that we single out the significant contributions made by Wayde Dudley, Barb Dudley, Frank Stout & Candy Garrison ++ All of the other FC Board Members. Let’s proceed to look at what is in store for us in September >>>>

Our SEPTEMBER Breakfast Meeting will be a Hum Dinger !!!  We hope to “Capture” Dean Fleck & Walter Chuck. Hopefully, Dean will provide us with some up dated information on the Commercial Pier Rebuild & the current status of the NOAA Port Selection & the Bellingham Challenge. You may want to bring a Couple of Bucks to this Meeting >< Frank will be showing us some New (For Sale) Club Gear, which will include our “Spiffy” New Ball Caps. Moving on >< You don’t want to miss the General Membership Meeting on the 17th >< It’s not everyday that we get our fellow member, Roger Wilson, to share some of his ”Tippy Top Secret” Blue Water COHO Fishing Techniques. Also, you may want to mark your calendar’s for a Cool Event on the 19th >< We will be joining forces with SOLV to celebrate their 25th Anniversary Beach Cleanup at our own Beverly Beach. Watch for a reminder BLAST >> & << That’s the way it is for September >>>>>>>>

In closing. allow me to share with you some wisdom from, a delightful 90 Year Young, Regina Brett >< According to Regina, “No one is in charge of Your Happiness > but < YOU  >>>>>>>

Well, that’s the Top of the news as it Looks from Here …… Hope to See You On The Water >>>>>>>  THE HOOK
